How does the insurance cover work?

Our insurance cover has been designed to protect you if your vehicle is damaged by the driver or a third party during a Drivy rental. This means that your no-claims bonus will not be affected.

In the event of an accident, the driver pays the repair costs up to the amount of the insurance excess, and the insurer pays the rest. Drivy’s insurance covers:

  • Personal injury
  • Damage to your vehicle and cases of fire or theft, whether by the driver or a third party, up to a limit of £40,000.
  • Accidental damage, including to the windscreen.
  • Third-party liability.

For your vehicle to be fully covered by Drivy’s insurance, you must make sure that:

  • Your vehicle is eligible for our site.
  • The driver meets our rental conditions.
  • You have carried out all the driver checks and completed the walkaround inspection of the vehicle at the start of the rental. For Drivy Open rentals, these checks will be performed by Drivy and the walkaround inspection will be carried out by the driver.

Please note that breakdowns and punctures are not covered by our insurance policy. You are responsible for maintaining your vehicle. If you think the driver is responsible for a breakdown, you can appoint an expert to demonstrate this.
